Android app development

A venture capital (VC) group based in the Midwest United States has a number of software companies in their portfolio. Two of these companies had released inaugural editions of their mobile versions on the iOS platform. Once the iOS versions demonstrated viability, it was time for the companies to scale their operations and increase distribution. Part of their distribution plans included porting the applications to the Android platform. Their search led to navitend to collaborate to bring their product to Android tablets and phones.

navitend’s programming team worked with both of these software companies to help them understand the differences between iOS and the Android platform and a plan was put together to develop the Android version of their respective applications. Some aspects of the Android version were direct “ports” of the functionality from the iOS version, yet in other areas the Android app took the functionality even further than the iOS editions. navitend became a virtual member of their development and product team.

Both products were successfully ported to Android and made available to users in the Google app marketplace. This is a common experience for navitend – we are not always the first partner for our clients, however, once we engage, our clients stick with us for strategy, collaboration, ongoing maintenance and new versions.
