Server Migration

A specialty textile company contacted navitend’s business development group about a server upgrade. They already had a vendor’s quote for the migration, but several warning signs made them uneasy: unclear answers about the timeline, no plan for keeping the business running during the cutover, and little interest in how the company actually used its systems.

navitend started by learning how the business used its server: which applications, shared files and user accounts the business depended on, and when they could and couldn’t be offline. We put together a migration plan, set up and tested the new server ahead of time, and moved data, applications and user access in a scheduled window outside business hours. Afterward we verified with staff that everything worked as expected and confirmed that backups of the new server were running.

The migration was completed with minimal downtime and cost. This navitend client has an improved, stable computer network and the confidence that comes with having a competent and responsive I.T. partner, one who continues to support their systems today.
