Moved a dealership from Windows 10 to Windows 11 on time and on budget

With Windows 10 reaching the end of support, an auto dealer client had a large number of computers that needed to move to Windows 11. The upgrade wasn’t optional. The dealership’s manufacturer requires up-to-date, supported equipment, and without Windows 11 the machines would stop receiving security updates from Microsoft. Some of the computers were new enough to upgrade, but others were too old for Windows 11; and simply replacing all of the machines was not in the budget.

navitend worked with the dealership to review every machine and determine which could be upgraded and which needed a full replacement. With that study complete, we put a plan in place:

• Upgrade the eligible machines to Windows 11
• Replace the older machines outright with new Windows 11 computers
• Securely recycle every retired machine, with its hard drive wiped first

We scheduled the work around the dealership’s sales and service hours to keep each department running. Wiping hard drives and securely recycling old equipment is a routine part of the work navitend does for its clients, so no customer or dealership data leaves with the hardware.

The dealer is now operating in compliance with their manufacturer’s requirements, on fast, secure equipment. Every machine receives the latest security patches, both for Windows 11 and for popular third-party applications, through navitend’s Vulnerability Management service, which is available to our Managed IT clients.
