Challenge

A trucking & rigging firm has a large fleet of vehicles serving clients nationwide. Many of their jobs require special paperwork as the drivers move from state to state with their cargo. The drivers would have to find a truck-stop and wait for an incoming fax to transmit their required paperwork before continuing on with their delivery. This low-tech approach had challenges including the hassle of finding a truck stop with a working fax machine and the challenge of getting someone in the dispatch office to send a document at odd hours of the day.

Solution

navitend worked with the client to enable mobile printing directly in their trucks. Today, the central dispatch office emails PDF copies of the required paperwork to the driver's iPhone. The driver wirelessly prints the permits in the truck and is no longer delayed by needing to find a working fax machine along their route during reasonable business hours. The drivers are also able to record their expenses and submit time-tracking information to the home office via their phones.

Result

Drivers are able to efficiently deliver their cargo with greater confidence in their paperwork and delivery times. This translates to happier drivers, happpier dispatch operators, and satisfied clients.
