How To Protect an Excel Spreadsheet

Protect the Entire Sheet
Sometimes it is necessary to restrict editing rights of an Excel worksheet. FollowAlong with these steps to learn how:
- Open the Excel worksheet you wish to protect
- Click File

Select Protect Workbook
- Choose the appropriate type of restriction
- Follow any additional instructions
Partial Protection
Sometimes it's necessary to leave part of the worksheet unprotected, while at the same time protecting the rest. FollowAlong with these steps:
- Select the cells you wish to remain unprotected

Right-click one of the cells you have selected and choose Format Cells...

Under the Protection tab, uncheck Locked
- Click OK
- Follow the above steps to protect the rest of the worksheet. The cells you have modified here will remain unprotected
