Compressing (Zipping) Files/Folders into zip files
Zip files are folders or files that have been compressed to save space, usually in an effort to make emailing or downloading the files a quicker process. FollowAlong with these steps to create your own "zipped" folders:
- Browse to the directory that contains the files you wish to compress into a zip file
- Select the files you wish to compress (press Ctrl+A to select all files in a folder)
- Right-click one of the selected files
- Choose Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder
- It may take a few moments to compress all of the files, but a new “zipped” folder will appear in the same directory
- Type a name for the zip file and press Enter
Decompressing (Unzipping) Zip Files
The zip file can be later be decompressed (unpacked), FollowAlong with these steps:
- Browse to the directory containing the zip file you wish to decompress
- Right-click the zip file and choose "Extract All..."
- Click "Browse" and select where you would like to extract the contents of the zip file
- Click "Extract"
